Ocean Gems

The past week was wet and miserable: perfect writing weather! But today the sun emerged, and I walked along the beach, splashing in the warm shallows and scanning the littoral zone for shells and colorful stones.

Upon arriving home, I decided to take a break from Book Three to write a short poem about the beauty of the discarded oyster shells I've collected and varnished. They will become part of a jewelry collection - pendants and earrings - but for now they are simply beautiful objects adorning my work desk.
